This multimedia education project invites young people in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems written and read by some of the award-winning poets who serve on the Academy of American Poets board. The writer will team up with the Director to prepare a presentation close to completion of the fellowship term, as well as present or develop their work through public readings or workshop discussions. She has been recognized for her efforts in 1985 as the YWCA Woman of the Year, professional category), 1986 she won the Larry Schneider Communications and Leadership Award a, in 1997 she received the Saskatchewan Order of Merit and in October 2008 she was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada.
